Pattaya is planning the most creative film city: Event shows opportunities for the future!

The film industry in Thailand is taking off and Pattaya is at the center of these exciting developments. On November 7th, 2025 the event will take place The Port Ballroom of the Hotel Grande Center Point a major event titled “PATTAYA ROLL: The Best Film Location for Shooting” was held. From 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., it's all about the creative possibilities of the film city of Pattaya, hosted by the Organization for the Development of Sustainable Tourism Areas (Dasta).

The day promises an exciting program that begins with a lecture on the topic “Soft Power – Creative City – Pattaya: Opportunities for the city in the film world”. Visitors can look forward to a special talk by Ping Lamphraeng, who will explore the inspiring vision for Pattaya as the next creative film city. There will also be a showcase of projects from the network of creative cities in Thailand, complemented by various performances and exhibitions from a film perspective.

Pattaya's role in the film industry

What makes Pattaya so attractive for the film industry? This question is not only addressed in the event, but is also the reason why the city is working to develop a one-stop service center for the film and creative industries. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) not only supports film teams with financial resources and technical know-how, but also actively promotes “film-induced tourism”. This strategy attracts travelers to the locations of their favorite films and strengthens the local economy.

In addition, TAT plans to introduce a new financing program from January 2025 that will provide reimbursements of 15% to 30% of production costs. Such measures promote both film production and sustainable tourism and allow Thailand to flourish as a model region for social and economic development.
