Chiang Mai will be the center for motorsport and mobility next year! From October 8th to 10th, 2025, the FIA Asia Pacific Congress 2025 will take place here, a major event organized by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The congress will be held at the elegant InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping and will bring together delegates from 25 countries in the Asia Pacific region, including executives from the motorsport and transport industries as well as international media.

The official opening of the congress will be carried out by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, and Prutirat Ratanakul Serireongrit, President of the Royal Automobile Association of Thailand (RAAT). The latter highlights Thailand's growing role in the development of motorsports and road safety in the region and highlights the more than 5,000 members of RAAT, which will accept new membership registrations from January 1, 2026.

Focus of the congress

The congress addresses important topics, including the development of the regional motorsport infrastructure, the training of young talent and the aim of promoting global safety standards in motorsport. A key concern is the transition to electric mobility, with environmental concerns and sustainable urban design playing a key role. Another exciting aspect is the use of digital technologies to improve road safety.

The motto of the congress, "Innovate. Integrate. Accelerate: Driving a sustainable future for Mobility and Sport", reflects the trend that the region is becoming increasingly important for global motorsport. In his address, Mohammed Ben Sulayem praised the region's progress in mobility and sport and emphasized the importance of safety, sustainability and innovation as the basis for a successful future.

National and international initiatives

The topics of the congress can be found in the context of global initiatives to improve road safety and promote sustainable mobility. The NDC Transport Initiative for Asia (NDC-TIA) The goal, for example, is to support countries such as China, India and Vietnam in decarbonizing their transport systems. Transport-related emissions in Asia rose to an alarming 25,129 million tonnes in 2021 - a signal that urgent action is needed. The NDC-TIA promotes evidence-based policymaking and has launched many partnerships to create a strong basis for sustainable mobility strategies.

With the large number of representatives and high-ranking participants, the FIA Asia Pacific Congress will not only shed light on current challenges, but also present strategies and new approaches to improve mobility and safety in motorsport.
