Asia Pacific Championships 2025: The best wheelchair basketball teams in the competition!

The anticipation in Bangkok is great! From November 7th to 15th, 2025 Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre the best wheelchair basketball teams in the Asia-Oceania Zone will fight for the title. The IWBF Asia Oceania Zone has both the official match days and the participating nations for the2025 IWBF Asia Oceania Championshipsconfirmed.

The event not only attracts the crème de la crème of men's and women's teams to the Thai capital, but is also an important qualifying competition for theOttawa 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championshipsas well as the2026 Asian Para Games. Here you can follow all games live.

Participants and game format

A total of 15 men's and 9 women's teams will take part. The men's teams are divided into two divisions:

  • Division A: Australien, China, Iran, Japan, Korea, Thailand
  • Division B: Afghanistan, Chinese Taipei, Indien, Irak, Kuwait, Neuseeland, Philippinen, Saudi-Arabische und Vereinigte Arabische Emirate

For women, the list of participants looks like this:

  • Division A: Australien, China, Japan
  • Division B: Kambodscha, Indien, Iran, Laos, Philippinen, Thailand

The competition will be tried and testedRound-robin formatplayed, followed by knockout rounds. The decisive finals will take place on November 15th, where the champions of both categories will be crowned.

The path to the tournament

The start will take place on November 7, 2025 with the first games of the men's Division B: Afghanistan will face the United Arab Emirates and the Philippines will play against Saudi Arabia. The group stage runs until November 12th, followed by the men's quarterfinals on November 13th and the semifinals on November 14th. The best two teams from both categories qualify directly for theOttawa 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships. The third and fourth placed teams also have the chance to qualify through repechage tournaments.
