the euthanatos is a rote that uses the mage’s raw magical potency. this rote functions exactly like countermagic, except that it is the caster that is affected by this rote. this rote renders the mage nearly immune to lesser counters. the difficulty of each counter spell is increased by one for each success gained. each success lost reduces the difficulty by one. the ease of this rote is equal to the mage’s raw magical potency. this may be increased by disciplines (see the dmg for details). abilities are not affected by this rote. as with normal counters, each success reduces a hostile spell’s difficulty by one. spells that the mage casts on herself are likewise subject to this rote. the difficulty of this rote is determined by the mage’s raw magical potency.
in this rote, the mage’s power is used to cast a spell. it may be confused with a normal countermagic spell but the effect is less potent. this rote does not affect ability scores or skills. it is not removed by one-level counters, it can be overcome by casting “resist spells” with ease 3 and then casting this rote. unlike normal countermagic, mcomps can be added by disciplines. the difficulty of the rote is equal to the mage’s raw magical potency. this may be increased by disciplines (see the dmg for details).
