one of the most interesting uses of this technique, i’ve found is that you can create your own instruments without ever needing to actually write a note-triggering patch. i’m not sure how useful this will be for people who want to create new instruments for pro tools / logic / logic x, but i’ve found it extremely useful for creative jam sessions. just set up a pattern or sequence and load in any effects that you want.

unfortunately, this tool cannot fix the issue you may have had where multiple plug-ins have been enabled at the same time, and all you can hear is a churning of background noises. some have suggested that you do some adjustment to the midside matrix that you define here, but it will still be a little bumpy until and unless you really get your sound out.

ddmf is what is called a panner. a panner is a plugin that will bend the frequency of a certain number of channels. the midside matrix and x-harmonic panner are ready to use. they can be configured with very few options.

the biggest difference between the digital heterodyne microphone effects (or dhmfe) and these plug-ins is that the dhmfe package can actually enhance your sound before and after the sound that is picked up.

the metaplugin has a midi input (as well as an audio output), and you have to create the effects by connecting the audio outputs of one plugin to inputs of another plugin. and in that case, once youve created the connections, you can easily tweak them by using the flexible m/s synthesis, multiband processing or distorting plugins.

the multi band processing plugin are cross-platform and can be used as single-band plugins as well. plogue bidule from tapeturtle and krushview element from krushcontrol are two examples of other meta plug-ins that you can use to quickly create multiband plug-ins.
