István Vágás (29 September 1903 – 25 April 1985) was a Hungarian gymnast who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics.
He was part of the Hungarian team, which was able to win the gold medal in the gymnastics men’s team, Swedish system event in 1920.

Category:Sportspeople from SzegedStudies in the Center for Biologic and Genetic Diversity and in the Department of Pathology will focus on: 1. Factors Responsible for Cell Death in Transformed Mammalian Cells in culture and in vivo. The studies in the pathology section will identify, purify and characterize the factors responsible for cell death in situ in tumors which emerge in genetically engineered mice. We will conduct a detailed morphological analysis of the tumors which emerge in response to expression of c-myc, c-ras or c-Ki-ras oncogenes in the mouse. These studies will provide new understanding of the factors which can initiate the death of cells in tumors as well as the factors which can trigger the death of cells in cells in situ. 2. The Nucleotide Sequence of the Mouse K-Ras Gene. The goal of this project is to determine the sequence of the mouse K-ras gene. Full length cDNA clones have been isolated from a mouse embryo library and will be sequenced to determine the overall nucleotide sequence of the gene. By comparing these sequences with the human and rat ras genes, homologies, functional motifs and critical amino acid residues will be determined which may indicate sites which are responsible for the oncogenicity of K-ras. By analyzing a variety of mouse tissues, a species specific sequence will be identified which may show whether or not it is the true wild type sequence.
